Cat Desexing Program

Providing low cost desexing when the community needs it the most

CSCA’s Cat Desexing Program

In 2023 we received a bequest from a beautiful supporter named Liz. As an animal lover who had a feline companion named Tibby, Liz was a huge supporter of our organisation.

To honour Liz, we have decided to use the funds she generously donated to CSCA to help the community struggling to desex their much-loved cat as there is no government funded desexing program in the ACT.

Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be offered an appointment through our program. Placements will be offered on an as needed basis until funds are exhausted.

You can also donate to this initiative by clicking the button below. ALL funds donated until the end of the financial year will go towards our Cat Desexing Program. Donations over $2 are tax deductible so get your donation in now to reap the benefits in this financial year.

Benefits of desexing your cat

Cats are companion animals that reach sexual maturity by the age of four months and have rapid breeding capability. The breeding capability of cats can see rapid explosions of numbers of kittens being born. The ONLY way to prevent this is to desex your cat.

Not only does desexing prevent unwanted litters of kittens being born, but it holds many benefits to the health and wellbeing of your cat.

For females ovarian and uterine cancer is eliminated along with conditions such as pyometra and complications associated with pregnancy and birthing.

For males the risk of testicular cancer is eliminated.

Desexed cats tend to be less aggressive and less likely to fight or roam which can prevent injury or infection.
