Foster
Fostering is such a heart-warming, challenging and ultimately rewarding experience and we could not do what we do without our amazing team of foster carers.
We have all kinds of cats in our Streets to Sheets Foster care program, although the majority are ones that come from unsocialised backgrounds and need time and patience to be socialised so that they can be rehomed.
To get an idea of what is involved in the socialisation process the Scaredy Cats website is an excellent resource that explains what the usual process is http://www.scaredycats.com.au/
While a cat is in foster care we will pay for all vet bills.
We can also supply equipment as needed, including a crate, litter trays, beds etc. Unfortunately, as we are funded through donations we are not able to supply food and litter for all of our foster cats throughout their time in foster care. We will support our carers where we can and distribute donations to our carers as they come in. If this is an issue for you please speak to us so we can discuss how we are able to best support you if you choose to become a carer with us.
We also have a wonderful support network for our foster carers where people can ask for advice and share milestones with a group of other carers.
If fostering sounds like something for you please fill in the foster carer application form and we will be in touch to discuss further:
Volunteer
Our team of volunteers, called ‘Street Angels’ do everything from assisting with fundraising events, admin support, trapping, transport of cats and anything else that pops up!
We have a Facebook support group for our volunteers where we put calls out for help when needed. If you would like to join just click on the link and answer the questions:

Crafting for Canberra Street Cats
If you are a crafty person we also have a dedicated craft group to create handmade items to sell as fundraisers for the Canberra Street Cat Alliance, and where possible to create items to be used by the cats in care and in colonies.
